Have you ever considered the following: Even when you don’t do anything, you are still making a decision. Someone recently said that to me and those words have been endlessly swirling around in my head… for days. Not to get philosophical on this silly blog or anything (I was never one to philosophize anyway), but I do have quite a bit of thinking to do. Or, I feel like I do. Therefore, I will need time to “declutter” my personal life and will have to whisper, in a possibly really terrible French accent, au revoir for the time being. To be honest, I’m not really sure when I will resume blogging again – tomorrow, next week, December? I don’t know! Maybe it doesn’t matter.

However, to find me is easy, so even if I am not on here, I will be available elsewhere (most likely reading as there are about 40 titles in my list, or maybe working like a busy bee haha).

Confused?

The place is called drybar. It’s in Los Angeles. They do your hair, like a salon, but only blowdry it. Blowdrying is their specialty, so I guess it’s great for weddings and such. And they serve you drinks at the same time. Going along with the bar theme, you choose from blowouts with names like Cosmopolitan and Straight Up.

This might be the most interesting concept I’ve come across in quite awhile! Plus, navigating the website is kind of fun just by itself; it’s a very aesthetically pleasing website design, yeah? Dive right in here. I love all the pops of yellow.

I am really behind the times, but I finally watched Food, Inc. The documentary really does change how you perceive food and makes you question if you truly do know exactly what you are eating. If the saying “You are what you eat” holds any truth, then now is the time to be more careful than ever!

If you’re the type of person who doesn’t care for documentaries because you find them boring and would much rather immerse yourself in fiction (which I also love!), I would say that this is one documentary you would have to watch. In fact, don’t label it as a documentary. It’s about food – something that every single one of us needs to survive – and if you genuinely care for your body and the people in your life (which you do, I’m sure!), then I promise you, this isn’t just some movie. It’s addressing your life and is a very personal issue, and as a result, I think it definitely forces you to reconsider your shopping cart on your next trip to the grocery store. Sometimes, people ask me who my favorite designer is and I never know how to answer. That’s because I don’t know how to pick just one. Also, I never like absolutely everything a designer produces; there are always hits and misses. But one of my favorites is definitely Oscar de la Renta and the fact that I do probably says a lot about what I like. It also makes me seem… kind of old(er?). Haha Well, I’ve always thought my actual age never quite matched my interests.

They say that a person can only truly experiment with different styles (read: exotic and crazy and really trendy and way over-the-top) at a young age, like your twenties. After that, you sort of have to evolve and mature because of, I guess, social norms? You can’t wear just anything.

Perhaps the only one who really defies this rule effectively is Iris Apfel. That woman has immaculate style; no one really wonders about her age because it doesn’t matter…and no one labels her as cuckoo because she possesses a certain genius flair to make it work. I think I need to be more daring. If my personality isn’t daring, then maybe my sartorial choices will somehow compensate…!

What is style?

The way you dress speaks volumes about you as a person. Before you open your mouth, we are already having a conversation with your clothes. Sometimes, your appearance is the last thing we remember.

And this might be why I genuinely love shopping. I know many girls say they “love” shopping, but I really love just touching and looking at clothes. But you know, anybody can go out and spend money. That’s very easy. So, what I love more is observing people’s styles. It’s always so interesting! And if you really do it right, it’s very admirable. Hmm This might be why liking a stylist is kind of a trick question – yes, a stylist makes a person look good, but at the same time, that person loses some individuality, right?

Anyway – I am blabbering per usual.

I know practically half the fashion-conscious world is buzzing about Sarah Jessica Parker in Alexander McQueen for the CFDA Awards, but oh my gosh, there’s really no denying that she looks prettttttttttty stunning.

The traditional how-to-dress-for-your-body-type rules state that big prints fail on petite frames, but SJP actually makes it work. So, I guess it’s further evidence that you can wear whatever you want – the “you wear the dress, don’t let the dress wear you” mentality. You know, as a side note, whenever I see a picture of her, I can never get over how muscular her arms are haha

P.S. In completely unrelated news, this marks my 201st blog post! Wow. If that’s not a reason to sort of celebrate, I don’t know what is… I’ve actually kept this blog for a little over a year now, which is strange and interesting at the same time. Plenty has happened within the last twelve months and this online “journal” has documented some of those moments. Thanks for being part of those moments and… yay for blogging.

Maybe being vegetarian isn’t on everyone’s mind since most people simply salivate at the mere thought of… ohhhh I don’t know – grilled hot dogs, hamburgers, juicy steaks, BBQ – hungry yet?

But as a vegetarian, my mind doesn’t wander that way. Even so, I do understand why many of us have a difficult time abandoning meat. It sounds daunting, maybe, but personally, I think we live in a very meat-obsessed country and we can certainly afford to cut back – even a little bit! There are plenty of good, solid reasons why changing your diet to a less meaty one is a smart one :)

Today’s lunch: a childhood staple, organic peanut butter & strawberry jelly on oatmeal bread. Sometimes, a plain PB & J fixes all problems…
